I share some stuff with President Barack Obama, our fathers were both born in Kenya, we both love running and lastly we both have skinny legs.
When Governor Anorld Shwasnigger was campaigning for Mccain in Pennyslavania he joked about Obama’s skinny calves. The Charismatic Carlifornia governor even had advice for Obama on what Obama needs to do, “he needs to do some squats!!”
When this former Mr. Universe tells you how to build muscles you better take him seriously. When he was starting out, Anorld was considered to have the skinniest calves in the business but he worked hard in the gym to get the desired muscles. So it’s possible to get the muscle you desire.
I want to build my calf muscles and I don’t have a system on how to do it but I guese I will start with the governor’s advice, “do some squats!!!”

Squats build legs, not calves. They particularly help in having a strong back, huge quadriceps and knees and in general, squats help increase body mass. If one wants to be big, as in if one is skinny, squats are a central to exercise.
For calves, do calf raises. Calf raises, calf raises. And they are many: Leg Press Machine Calf Press, Rocking Barbell Calf Raises, Seated Calf Raises, Barbell Calf Raises, Hack Machine Calf Raises, Dumbbell Calf Raises, Barbell Seated Calf Raises, Seated Single Leg Calf Raises, Single Leg Calf Raises, Dumbbell Single Leg Calf Raises.
Big legs are extra weight for a runner. Look at all the good runners: their legs are muscular but lean. I suggest doing pylometric exercises for strength and explosive power rather than build muscle mass. That is, if you want to be a better runner.
But if you want to do body building, by all means develop mass.
Cheers

Constantine, personally I’m more concerned with his smoking habits. He’s working on it but very recently on a Sunday talk show, he was grilled about it. Hopefully, he will kick the habit. Undoubtedly, he has everything it takes to be the President of the United States.

I agree with Jacob, squats are not a good thing for a long distance runner!

Khalfan,
The reason why I decided to work on my calf’s, I guese it has to do with vanity. Guys with bigger calves look great in shorts.
