2010 New York Marathon Results : Male & Female Winner

2010 New York Marathon has just ended and the winner is Gebre Gebremariam of Ethiopia. The Ehiopian won this years  New York City men’s marathon in an unofficial time of 2 : 8 : 14.

I followed the race on Satellite TV. I wasn’t  too disappointed to see Haile Gebrselassie pull out at the 16th mile. I heard before the race he was paid a reported $400,000 just to turn up?

Gebremariam come into the final miles in Central Park neck-and-neck with Emmanuel Mutai of Kenya but he put a strong kick to race away and win.

The womens event has been won by Edna Kiplagat of Kenya. Second place was American Shalane Flanagan.

2010 London Marathon Race Results

The 2010 London Marathon has just finished. The Men’s winner was Ethiopia’s Tsegaye Kebede while the ladies event was won by Liliya Shobukova.

Kebede had untroubled victory, the Kenyans today didnt turn up! Samwel Wanjiru was left behind at mile 18, followed by Kibet at mile 20. Kirui tried to Keep up with Kebede and I could see he was giving it 110% while Kebede looked like he could notch a gear anytime. At mile 22 Kebede just went for it, he crossed the finish line in 2:05:12! Missing the course record by 2 seconds.

As for the Ladies, my athlete for the race has to be the second place finisher, another Russian (sorry, cant remember her name) At certain point she seemed to be far behind, but she just kept going and going! She was also thrilled with her performance because she was all smiles at the finish.

I watched the race Live via Satellite TV and I have to say It was another beautiful London Marathon! Loved it!

2010 Boston Marathon Photos : Pictures

The 2010 Boston Marathon is done and dusted and I have surfed around the web for pictures and photos from the race. With over 500,000 spectators cheering the 20,000 runners I found plenty of good photos.

I watched the marathon via satellite TV and it looked everyone was having a ball “It was just a very exciting day,’’ said race director Guy Morse. “We haven’t had times like this for many years. The weather [55 degrees, mostly sunny] was almost perfect for runners. And there was a crosswind that made it fair.’

The only disapointment was watching Ryan Hall fall behind, I was hoping for a first American victory since 1983.

The Peoples Marathon

I just loved the following battle between the Russian and the Ethiopian.

The Russian Predator

The Ethiopian Prey

At the end the Prey proved to be too fast for the predator!

The Ethiopian Teyba Erkesso won the battle, beating Russian Tatyana Pushkareva, a 24-year-old former ballroom dancer who might be a candidate for “Dancing with the Stars.’’

2010 Dubai Marathon Results : Haile Gebrselassie Dubai Marathon

The 2010 Stanchart Dubai marathon was beamed live on Satellite TV and I woke early morning to watch Haile Gebrselassie make another history by breaking his own marathon record.

It wasn’t to be

His highness Haile Gebrselassie came first at 2010 Stanchart Dubai Marathon. His winning time was 2hr 6min 9sec, just over two minutes outside his best. At 36 I think that is impressive time.

The Mystery of a Stiff Back!!

Believe it or not according to news coming from Dubai: Haile Gebrselassie woke up with a stiff back and had to be given intensive physiotherapy hours before the race. He fell asleep while watching television and woke up with a stiff back!!!!

The man was lucky he even managed to sleep on the night before the race, personally I never sleep before a marathon race.

Gebrselassie took the fatty $250,000 first prize (missing the $i Million bonus for breaking the record) ahead of Kenya’s Chala Dechase Beyene, and his Ethiopian compatriot Eshetu Wendimu Tisge finished third.

Mamitu Daska Molisa made it an Ethiopian cleansweep of titles as she won the women’s race in 2hr 24min 18sec, eight seconds ahead of Aberu Kebede Shewaye.
