It was a great weekend of marathon running, I found pictures from some of marathon races that happened over the weekend. 2010 Hyannis Marathon Race photos & Pictures The local paper had a great photo taken at the start of the race : a picture of Dad with his wheel chair bound son just ahead of the leading pack. See photo at cod times site 2010 Gasparilla Half & Full Marathon photos & Pictures The notable thing about thsi race was the 41 year old winner, Terri Rejimbai won the womens half in a time of 1 hr 22 mins. I wondered why the winner had a slow finish time in the low 2:30s. This picture tells it all

The Rock N Roll Mardi Gras Full & Half Marathon took to the streets of New Orleans on Sunday morning. Forty-five bands rocked on 24 stages across the entire half-marathon and marathon courses. 16,000 runners came up dressed in the best marathon costumes that made it a good day for stock photos, sports photo galleries & sports photo library. Special mention goes to Philip Lawrence, who made Sunday’s run his 107th marathon in 24 years. One great photo from Rock N Roll Mardi Gras Marathon was this one!

“Run Austin Love Austin”that is one of the best marathon slogans have heard According to race officials, 4,500 marathoners and a record number of 9,000 half-marathoners participated in 2010 Austin Marathon. The race having fell on valentine day there was alot of roses at the finish line. I found 2010 Austin Race photos at Flickr. The photos were awesome, the type you would love to keep in sports photos library or sports photos books.
20,000 runners took part in 2010 Surf City marathon along the seaside streets of Huntington Beach. The Orange County Register posted some awesome photos from the race.

23,000 marathon runners hit the streets of Hawaii for the 2009 Honolulu marathon. I don’t know why this race is so popular with Japanese runners, 15,000 of them ran the race. A lady, Honolulu photographer, who lives along the Honolulu marathon route took some awesome photos, from the images you would have been forgiven if you thought the images were of Tokyo marathon. The Japanese were all over.
The Honolulu marathon picture below (see the Sign inside) must have been spotted at the 20 mile mark. A point when most runners are dazed & hungry and might not tell the difference between Vaseline & Butter!

The California International Marathon in Sacramento happened yesterday and as usual the wonderful spectators were on the side to take some amazing race photos. From a loving mom following her two sons running the Sacramento Marathon comes this race image.

The 2009 New York Marathon was as colorful as always. Although we celebrate the runners we forget the spectators who equally do a magnificent job of taking photos. For me, two Images stood out from the 2009 NYC marathon. This Frenchman who came along with the Eiffel tower.

Marathon races have rules and regulation. The rules for elite runners are more stringent than for the casual runners. The rules for elite runners became more clear after the debacle at 2009 Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee. In that race three different ladies were declared winners. The first winner was Cassie Pellar who was disqualified shortly after the race for accepting aid – a water bottle – from a friend outside of the official water stations. The second place finisher, Jennifer Goebel, then took the first place. After a few days, supporters of Cassie posted a photo of Jennifer, the race photos showed Goebel with an iPod tucked into the waistband of her shorts. Since running with an ipod is against the rules she was stripped off her first place. The third place finisher Canitz, a green 42 year old runner was elevated to first place.I wonder what dirt they will now dig out about her??? she better have her taxes in order.
