The Rock and Roll marathon series 2010 kicked off last weekend. The first race was in San Diego. Over 20,000 runners crossed the startline, many in the half marathon event.

They call it the largest half marathon in North America. And they are damn right : The streets of Indianapolis were pounded by 35,000 runners who participated in 2010, 500 festival mini marathon.

2010 Pittsburgh half and full marathon happened last sunday. I found some great photos of the race at flickr.
There was drama at the event when a suspicious devices was mistaken to be a bomb device, the bomb squad was called in but it turned out to be a microwave oven filled with spaghetti and pasta.

The 2010 flying pig marathon was awesome. I found some good pictures and photos from flickr.I was looking for a runner running on a pig costume but I never found one. But I found this Image of an 8th Grade teacher next to a pig mascot.

The 2010 Orange County full and half marathon took place last sunday. I was looking at the pictures from the race and I have to say the runners were having a ball. It was a sunny marathon day!

The firstl Dallas Rock N Roll Half Marathon happened last Sunday.
The organisers made a big statement : They can compete with any half marathon out there. Over 9,400 athletes began the 13.1-mile run from Dallas City Hall. The starting line was flanked by Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders dancing to speaker-thumping music echoing off glass office towers while thousands watched wave after wave of hundreds begin their run. The entire race, from start to finish in Fair Park, had a festive flair. Live bands entertained the runners each mile of the course, including the still sleeping neighborhoods of Highland Park, Lakewood, and Swiss Avenue.

2010 Hyannis Marathon Race photos & Pictures
The local paper had a great photo taken at the start of the race : a picture of Dad with his wheel chair bound son just ahead of the leading pack. See photo at cod times site
2010 Gasparilla Half & Full Marathon photos & Pictures
The notable thing about thsi race was the 41 year old winner, Terri Rejimbai won the womens half in a time of 1 hr 22 mins. See pictures at st petersburg website

The largest running field over the weekend, 21000 runners turned up. I wondered why the winner had a slow finish time in the low 2:30s. This picture tells it all

The 2009 New York Marathon was as colorful as always. Although we celebrate the runners we forget the spectators who equally do a magnificent job of taking photos.
For me, two Images stood out from the 2009 NYC marathon.
