Marathon You Can Do It

The firstl Dallas Rock N Roll Half Marathon happened last Sunday.

The organisers made a big statement : They can compete with any half marathon out there. Over 9,400 athletes began the 13.1-mile run from Dallas City Hall. The starting line was flanked by Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders dancing to speaker-thumping music echoing off glass office towers while thousands watched wave after wave of hundreds begin their run. The entire race, from start to finish in Fair Park, had a festive flair. Live bands entertained the runners each mile of the course, including the still sleeping neighborhoods of Highland Park, Lakewood, and Swiss Avenue.

It was a great weekend of marathon running, I found pictures from some of marathon races that happened over the weekend.

2010 Hyannis Marathon Race photos & Pictures

The local paper had a great photo taken at the start of the race : a picture of Dad with his wheel chair bound son just ahead of the leading pack. See photo at cod times site

2010 Gasparilla Half & Full Marathon photos & Pictures

The notable thing about thsi race was the 41 year old winner, Terri Rejimbai won the womens half in a time of 1 hr 22 mins. See pictures at st petersburg website

2010 Cowtown marathon photos & pictures

The largest running field over the weekend, 21000 runners turned up. I wondered why the winner had a slow finish time in the low 2:30s. This picture tells it all

The 2009 New York Marathon was as colorful as always. Although we celebrate the runners we forget the spectators who equally do a magnificent job of taking photos.

For me, two Images stood out from the 2009 NYC marathon.

This Frenchman who came along with the Eiffel tower.
