Running Tip: Start Slow, Save Energy, Finish Strong

The number one advice for marathon running is, start at a slow pace. But few of us runners remember this advice the moment we start running.

I think the reason why we know it but don’t practice it has to do with the mob psychology of a marathon.  At the start of the marathon there is a lot of excitement and this is the time every one is full of energy and every runner is trying to keep up with crowd.

But why is it so important to start at a slow pace. 

“If you conserve resources early, then they are available later. If you use them up early, then you pay later, and with interest.”

That is the advice of Jeff Galloway, writer of many marathon books.
