Run On Grass When Recovering From Ankle Injury

Yesterday I moved my weekly run from road to grass. The tendons infront of the ankle were in pain after a freak minor injury I suffered while kicking a soccer ball. Road running on tarmarc before complete healing of a running injury can only make an injury worse.

Rather than risk making my ankle injury worse by running on a hard surface, I decided to run on grass on a sports ground of a school in the neighbourhood.

Grass surface is soft, its not steped over by vehicles that make a surface hard. It is said that a runner’s impact on road is four times a runner’s weight. A soft surface minimises the impact.

If you are recovering from an ankle injury you should first run on a soft surface like grass before you get back running on road. The soft surface lowers the impact on your ankle.
