Meet Burster Martin: 101 yrs Old, to run London Marathon

Burster Martin is one octogenarian who has vowed not to get old. I watched him on CNN running, although the stomp betrayed his old age the bright eyes and the smile showed passion and determination. Martin shares a name with Burster Douglas, the boxer who famously knocked out Mike Tyson. Like Douglas, Martin is also a good boxer, CNN showeda video of his boxing training shots and I have to tell you, they looked fast and weighty for a 101 year old.

Dreaming Big

Burster, is marathon training for the London Marathon in a bid to become the world’s oldest competitive runner.

Mr Martin, who has 17 children, started work at Pimlico Plumbers in London three years ago because he was bored. At an era when most English lads would rather take a welfare check than do “menial jobs”, BURSTER IS A REVELATION!

On March 2nd 2008 Burster ran Roding Valley half marathon in Essex England in five hours 13 minutes. Most runners take a break after such an exertion not Burster who turned up to work early the next morning.

Mr Martin’s trainer is marathon enthusiast Harmander Singh, who helped Fauja Singh, 96, break the London marathon record for the over-90s.

If you want secrets to Burster’s zest for life, check a copy of UK FHM magazine he is the magazine agony uncle.

Best Drink after a marathon

After finishing the Roding Valley ahlf marathon, the first words of the ex-member of rock band The Zimmers were: “Where’s my beer?”
